Re: small crowd today
Got about 30 mates who are season tickets and only around 10 of them went yesterday.

Others could only get there if they drove which isn't really an option.

Re: small crowd today
Was a strange atmosphere yesterday, almost like no one wanted to be there, including the players.I think at Upton Park you had more of a hard core of fans who would find a way to get there on boxing day but now there’s a lot more casual fans who didn’t bother, that and the other reasons already stated.

Re: small crowd today
I've never felt the love for Boxing Day matches, and have been really happy we've had none at home for a few years. Unless you live in walking distance or on a tube line, you have to drive. Always a shit atmosphere too. Some traditions should be left to whither and die, time to move on.....

Re: small crowd today
Many of us was not allowed to go, Boxing Day family day with all this shit going on and watching it on our dodgy boxes! For once glad I never went

What was the official attendance?
I can't seem to find it anywhere on match reports etc}

Re: small crowd today
Overground totally screwed, covid, boxing loads of regulars not there today ,whole groups was really odd. Was great could get a pint go the toilet and back to seat in time for the 2nd half.

Re: small crowd today
Seems to me that the love of Boxing Day games is from the armchair as much as the stands and terraces.

Re: small crowd today
I hate to say, I would have normally gone when home for boxing day, but didn't bother.
For me it was mainly transport, difficult to get into London with no trains and no car available. Add to that covid and myself and mates gave it a miss.

Poor form = poor attendance

Re: small crowd today
If the WORLD CLASS TRANSPORT LINKS into Stratford are going to be as dismal or non existent as yesterday we might as well apply to be away every Boxing Day.
Would have been a certain amount of COVID isolators and maybe some who couldnt believe we were actually allowed to play at home.

Not sure that many 'doormats' were 'forced' to be at home.
Given the sound of many relationships on here I would expect the MISSUS would have been pushing most out the door waving a carving knife.

Kick off should have been 12 like the old days

Re: small crowd today
Now they've worked out so many can't get to the ground without any train service on Boxing Day, we'll have home fixtures for the next ten years.

Manuel 5:14 Mon Dec 27
Re: small crowd today
A lot more men in the UK are doormats now, that would be one reason. Back when Boxing day would be the 'escape' after the efforts of Christmas day. Now many won't be allowed, probably given plenty of tasks by wifey. Visiting the in-laws would be one.

Re: small crowd today
I went as I haven't been to a Boxing Day game in years but no-one smelt of Brut and no-one was smoking a cigar in the stands. I won't bother again.

Travelling in from Harrow was a pain too.
No met line after Wembley park & Jubilee out north of Willesden green so had to suffer the rail replacement bus.
I don't remember these issues going to boxing day fixtures years ago.
All in all well pissed off.

Used to be a sunday service. Now we have no trains not just for boxing day but the whole week.

Mad Dog 9:50 Sun Dec 26
Re: small crowd today
Maybe anglia. But c2c never have. Very few rail networks run boxing day

chelmsfordhammer 9:46 Sun Dec 26
Re: small crowd today
Mad dog, yes they have. It’s the last four years they haven’t run for before that they always used to run.
